1 March 2009

The spring golfing season at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base is rapidly approaching.  The Base NAF Council has approved our golfing fees for the 2009 season.  The slight increase will help offset the escalating costs of daily business, and keep your courses in their usual consistent playing conditions that our patrons have come to expect.

Effective 1 April 2009, annual golf fees will be as follows:

Military grades / Federal Civilian Employees

Junior Rate (Ages 10-18)

  $775.00

  $850.00

$1025.00

$1175.00

$1275.00

Each family member will pay ½  the sponsor rate.

A two payment option plan is available;  as well as a listing of other fees and charges at the pro shop counter.  In the interest of brevity, current annual green fee holders may mail in their payment or we can take a credit card over the telephone at 301-736-4887 x300.  For security reasons and to better our internal control process your current photo annual green fee card will remain in use for 2009.  We ask all annual card holders present your card at the golf pro shop counter so we may record your round.  You will be given a cash register receipt to present to the starter.  Tee Times are available everyday and are highly recommended.  Our automated tee time reservation system enables annual green fee customers to make their reservations up to seven days in advance by calling (301) 736-4590 or online through our web-site www.aafbgc.com.  The online Handicap service is also available.  Both online services require username and password to enter the site.  You may check with the administrative office for assistance in any of these services.  Our 0830 shotgun start is still offered weekends and holidays on a first come service.  We ask that you visit our website www.aafbgc.com routinely to keep abreast of course activity, programs, monthly specials, and social events planned.  Special social events scheduled include several Mixed Foursome tournaments (Couples Event) on 26 April, 19 July, 16 August, and 24 October.  The Annual Commanders Cup Club Championship will held on 23-25 May.  We are re-modeling our practice area adjacent to the driving range to establish a 3 hole Family course to help grow the game both now and in the future.

Join our Facebook social network “The Courses at Andrews AFB” and group page.  The goal with the group page is to have a destination on Facebook that Andrews AFB golfers can:  make new friends, fill out your foursome, sell used equipment and or exchange ideas.  Utilize the growing popularity of social networking to our advantage.  The Discussion Board area in the group page is yours to add messages to, create new topics, reply to topics etc.  We'd like for it to be as interactive as possible.  The group created is a closed group, meaning only an Admin (Ron Johnston) can invite people to join or allow/disallow interested people to join.  He will also be creating events from our group page and sending out the invitations to members.  Please look for these in the future.  If you know of anyone on Facebook that might be interested in our golf course or our group, just have them Friend Request him with the message "The Courses at Andrews AFB".

In an attempt to keep traffic flow at a minimum, and to make your entry as easy as possible, we suggest all golfing patrons enter the base through the Virginia Avenue Gate, located off Old Alexander Ferry Rd. We continue to encourage and support guest play. Your guest must present a photo ID to the installation entry controller for access to the Golf Course.

In closing, we are excited about the golf season at Andrews AFB.  Looking forward to seeing you around the links often.
